 | Facing Friday |
| pour me a glass of wine i need to drench the lonliness of goodbye and listen to me complain about my endless problems until you politely walk away... casually... ending my conversation, mid-sentence. pass me a cigarette no, i don't smoke but what a great time to start a new bad habit. your dismissal was quite clever, precise, so sharp around the edges. so i climbed aboard the rusty train fought back tears and then gave in again because that's the best way, to pretend, to drink coffee in the morning and i hold up my newspaper just to fool the fellow sitting next to me sideways glance that refuses to set me free from my mind excuse me, young man, i need a hint of advice but know that i'm running late, so speed up your words so i don't get hurt pondering too much on what you really meant. i'm living in my imaginary world of people cautious people, fast people people who love to sit and talk to people with their built-in responses and quick answers. and i'm loving the toxic air the... casual way you stare down my shirt without really being perverted and i'm loving the insensative flow of the city drowning what's been drowning me of emotions, trying to make-believe that everything will be alright tomorrow night when i wake without you by my side... please, dear bar tender, pour a glass for a lady whose had it bad he, like all the others, denies the immature number on my i.d. and he tells me that i need to leave... well... pardon me... i thought you'd take pity so i buy another pack of the smelliest cigarettes and sit one in my tiny lips and i pretend all of my problems could be drenched with the stench of casual, polite sips of my illegal vodka and the full pack of cancer sticks i'd love to... fall in love with... at least they'd leave me something... other than heartbroken. |
